New IT consulting company raises the bar

As of May 2012, a new IT consulting firm, Binario 12, opens its doors. Bringing together four existing companies - Thirdbase AB, CarbonX AB, X3M Consulting AB and Avacero AB – into a new organisation, Binario 12 is the brainchild of three already successful IT entrepreneurs: Tomas Fiedler, Stefan Lind and Fredrik Tingvall.

Tomas Fiedler was a founding partner of the mobile technology provider, Tactel AB (sold to a Norwegian investment group in 2009); Stefan Lind and Fredrik Tingvall have together built up several successful companies specialising in different fields, from test management to system development. Combining their years of experience, competence and personal networks, this winning team has started Binario 12 with the aim of raising standards in software development and consulting.  In what way is Binario 12 different from other companies in the industry?

 “While we obviously intend to be an efficient and profitable business, we’re also going to be sharing the profits with our employees in a more generous way. In order to get the best out of our teams and provide the highest quality service to customers, we’re convinced this is the way forward,” explains Tomas Fiedler, VP Sales & Marketing.

Isn’t it a tough time to be starting a new IT consulting business? Binario’s new CEO, Fredrik Tingvall doesn’t see it that way: “We’re new but we’re not starting from zero. Thirdbase AB, CarbonX AB, X3M Consulting AB and Avacero AB will all be part of the Binario group. They already employ 23 experts and have a combined annual turnover of over 25 million SEK. All three founders are well-established with excellent personal networks and in a strong position to grow the company.”

Binario 12, which has its HQ in Malmö, will initially focus on existing markets - Sweden, UK and the US – but will respond to customers’ requests for assistance in other markets moving forward, and open regional offices successively as needed. Customers already on the books include IKEA, Region Skåne, H&M, Sony and ST Ericsson.

When it comes to growth ambitions, the three founders are patient. “Quality beats quantity every time. That’s why we aren’t setting any numerical targets,” say Tomas. “We want to attract the most competent people, reward them well, and work on the most technically challenging projects. That way, the company will grow organically and profitably over time.”
