Pontus Ottosson - ny vd för Chalmers Ventures

Vi är stolta över att presentera Pontus Ottosson som ny vd för Chalmers Ventures. Pontus Ottosson arbetar idag som Head of Investments på Chalmers Ventures tillträder vd-rollen den 1:a januari 2024. Pontus ersätter Sara Wallin som i sin tur blir ny vd för Chalmersstiftelsen.

-Chalmers Ventures har under de senaste åren haft en fantastisk utveckling, säger Johan Inden, styrelseordförande i Chalmers Ventures. Vi har arbetat fram en strategi som levererar på målen och positionerar Chalmers Ventures som en ledande tech investor och venture builder i Norden. Att hitta rätt nästa vd är därför avgörande. Vi har haft en gedigen och djupgående rekryteringsprocess med många riktigt bra kandidater. Det är ett komplext jobb där personen både måste ha expertis kring investeringar i forskningsbaserade bolag och kunskap om venture creation i akademin och forskningsmiljön. Därför är vi glada att ha landat en mycket positiv rekrytering i Pontus Ottosson. Detta ger oss rätt kompetens och ledning, samt en trygg övergång och fortsatt leverans på strategin och visionen för Chalmers.

Pontus Ottosson har en lång bakgrund inom att leda och investera i teknikbolag. Tidigare har Pontus varit vd för P.U.L.S. (idag Aqilion) som under Pontus ledning reste 500 miljoner SEK i riskkapital och genomförde exits till ett värde om 1,1 miljarder SEK. Från 2017 fram tills idag har Pontus arbetat som Head of Investments på Chalmers Ventures. Under denna tid har portföljvärdet stigit från 155 miljoner SEK till 488 miljoner SEK.

Chalmers har i sin nya Vision för 2041 som mål att bli ett universitet i världsklass. Ett av benen för att nå dit är genom genom tillväxt av stiftelsekapital, utvecklad kommersiell verksamhet och fundraising. I detta blir Chalmers Ventures en viktig nyckelspelare inom koncernen.

Chalmers Ventures process, som kan ta forskning från labb till marknad, möjliggör både positiva affärer och global impact. Under 2024 så ökar Chalmers Ventures investeringskapaciteten upp till 90 miljoner kronor.

-Att öka upp investeringsramen till 90 miljoner SEK gör att vi kan följa med längre i utvecklingen av portföljbolagen. Något som är positivt för portföljbolagen såväl som för de som saminvesterar med oss. Allt sker genom vår evergreen-model som säkerställer kompetent och tålmodigt ägande i portföljbolagen. Pontus Ottosson - New CEO of Chalmers Ventures

We are proud to announce Pontus Ottosson as the new CEO of Chalmers Ventures. Pontus Ottosson, currently working as Head of Investments at Chalmers Ventures, will assume the role of CEO on January 1, 2024. Pontus replaces Sara Wallin, who in turn becomes the new CEO of the Chalmers Foundation.

-Chalmers Ventures has had a fantastic development over the past few years, says Johan Inden, Chairman of the Board at Chalmers Ventures. We have developed a strategy that delivers on the goals and positions Chalmers Ventures as a leading tech investor and venture builder in the Nordics. Finding the right next CEO is therefore key. We have had a thorough and in-depth recruitment process with many really good candidates. It's a complex job where the person must have expertise in investing in research-based companies and knowledge of venture creation in academia and the research environment. Therefore, we are pleased to have concluded a very positive recruitment in Pontus Ottosson. This gives us the right competence and leadership, as well as a secure transition and continued delivery on the strategy and vision for Chalmers.

Pontus Ottosson has a long background in leading and investing in technology companies. Previously, Pontus was CEO of P.U.L.S. (today Aqilion), where under his leadership, 500 million SEK was raised in venture capital and exits were completed for 1.1 billion SEK value. From 2017 until today, Pontus has worked as Head of Investments at Chalmers Ventures. During this time, the portfolio value has increased from 155 million SEK to 488 million SEK.

Chalmers aims to become a world-class university in its new Vision for 2041. One of the pillars to achieve this is through the growth of foundation capital, developed commercial activities, and fundraising. In this, Chalmers Ventures becomes a key player within the group.

-Increasing the investment framework to 90 million SEK means that we can accompany the portfolio companies further in their development. This is positive for both the portfolio companies and those who co-invest with us. Everything is done through our evergreen model which ensures competent and patient ownership in the portfolio companies.
