Clarion Hotel Stockholm wins international hospitality award

The 2012 MKG Worldwide Hospitality Awards was held last Monday at the InterContinental Le Grand in Paris. Clarion Hotel Stockholm won the category ”Best Marketing Strategy” for their commitment to art concept “Room for Art”.

Clarion Hotel Stockholm loves art. Through Room for Art, artists have been able to pay for their accommodation with art since June this year, and the interest generated has been enormous. The tradition was adopted from the historic Chelsea Hotel in New York where since the 1970’s artists were able to pay for their stay with art. The former General Manager Marcus Majewski whose father used to stay at The Chelsea Hotel initiated this concept and the campaign was carried out in co-operation with Studio Total.

On Monday the 12th of November the MKG Worldwide Hospitality Awards was held at the InterContinental Le Grand in Paris. Clarion Hotel Stockholm were successfully nominated for Room for Art in a category otherwise largely dominated by international hotel chains. Tess Mattisson, PR & Marketing Manger at Clarion Hotel Stockholm, was present to accept the award and crystal statuette.

The distinction ”Best Marketing Strategy” entails a marketing activity that distinguishes and stimulates a hotel’s operation.

We are extremely happy and proud of the award. For us to receive this distinction as an individual hotel is a major achievement. We do not want to be just another hotel in the crowd. Our ambition is to increase the quality of life of all of our guests, and art is a major contributing factor to that commitment. This is an acknowledgement that we do things with passion that people take notice of and appreciate, says Tess Mattisson.

170 Swedish and international artists have submitted their work to Room for Art at Clarion Hotel Stockholm. During 2013 the hotel will arrange an exhibition of the works. With the success of Room for Art, Clarion Hotels in Scandinavia intend to further develop the concept as part of their overall commitment to art.

- Art has always been an important to Clarion Hotels. It is therefore a delight and an honor for us that this artistic project has received so much attention, especially internationally. Room for Art is completely in line with our brand’s ideals, where the overall concept Clarion Loves Art plays an important and integral role, says Jessica Castegren, Marketing & Communication Manager for Clarion Hotels.
