Five new film clips: Things Swedish from a foreign perspective!

Colin Moon presenterar idag fem korta videosnuttar om saker och ting han anser 'really quite interesting' när det gäller att bo i Sverige. Han högläser på sitt eget speciella, kärleksfulla sätt ur sin bok 'In the Secret Garden of SwEden' (Mercuri-kongress förlag).

I första filmen berättar han om något som aldrig nämns i alla glassiga turistbroschyrer - nämligen myggor. "Sweden would have been a perfect place to live if Noah had refused to let the two mosquitoes board the ark".

I film nr 2 tar Colin upp ett ständigt aktuellt tema, nämligen den svenska neutraliteten. "A couple of hundred years of neutrality has taught Swedes not to take sides. Well, not until they know who’s going to win anyway. This means that instead of saying ja or nej they say nja which means ‘yes-but-no-but-yes-but".

I film nr 3 tittar Colin på hur det ofta ser ut på en svensk arbetsplats. "Swedes will start to ask each other about their plans for the coming weekend as early as Wednesday afternoon. By Friday lunchtime they have mentally gått för dagen -  ‘left for the day".

I film nr 4 berättar Colin om den svenska familjen. " Many children in Sweden are shared equally
by their parents – one week with mamma and the next with pappa. It’s like the EU parliament moving from Brussels to Strasbourg every other week but on a smaller scale."

Och i film nr 5 berättar Colin om det klassiska svenska utedasset. "Swedes love being in the countryside enjoying a primitive, back-to-basics existence. This includes the times when a Swede’s
gotta do, what a Swede’s gotta do. And they do it in the utedass – the outdoor lavatory.  There are several types of outside loo, none of which is connected to the water mains. They’re not for people with Anglo-Saxon hang-ups like mine – if I can’t flush it, I won’t do it."
