Cub Business Systems to supply food retailer Coop with pick-up solution

In May, Coop launched its new e-commerce centre in southern Stockholm and will triple its capacity for online trading. Coop's new, 6000m2 warehouse will handle orders from Stockholm and Mälardalen. In total, up to 100 ”pickers” will be able to process on-line orders simultaneously. Cub Business Systems has been assigned to deliver the software that will keep track of products being picked and packaged to the right customers.

In Coop's new warehouse in Kungens Kurva, south of Stockholm, a large number of customer orders will be assembled daily. In order to better conduct this operation, Coop needed a new system to qualitatively and efficiently ensure its strong growth. The new warehouse is a so-called "Dark Store", which means that it is used solely to process online orders. As a customer you can not visit the Dark Store.

"We are, of course, pleased to be assigned this project, and to deliver our Pick & Collect solution to Coop and their specific warehouse of exlusive online orders. Cub’s solution is already used in more than 200 stores, which use our system to serve their customers. Now, the system will also run in a Dark Store, which means that a large number of orders will be handled simultaneously”, says Marcus Enetjärn, Sales Manager at Cub Business Systems.

Coop will initially start using Cub's pick-up solution in the new warehouse in Kungens Kurva, but the plan is to enable individual stores with the same solution in the future.

"Cub's solution is scalable for both our smaller and larger stores and has the flexibility that is required to handel different volumes in order to be rationally managed”, says Niklas Zeltin, Operational Manager for Online at Coop.

"Our solution is now used by the three major players in the Swedish grocery market, which proves that our system contains the features necessary to handle a large number of orders quickly and accurately. This is the case regardless of whether you use it in an individual store or in a warehouse, like in Coop’s case. We claim that we are the only software supplier who can deliver this solution today, which also includes important functions that handle deliveries to the customer in store, or at home. This will increase the touchpoints with the customer, even on online orders”, Marcus concludes.
