The Swedish brand Crescent wins the Red Dot international design award

The Red Dot Award is one of the world’s biggest and most highly esteemed design competitions. The prestigious award is bestowed for products with an outstanding design and a high degree of innovation. Red Dot Award: Product Design 2023 is awarded to Crescent for its Elmer electric bike, which ushers in a new era of sustainable mobility.

A Scandinavian, stripped-down design with seamlessly integrated new systems and an exceptionally high capacity for carrying accessories have been important keywords in the creation of Elmer – along with high comfort and simplicity of use. Elmer is an answer to the new living patterns and conditions of contemporary society, and the goal of its creators is to make the electric bike our era’s “everyday hero”.

- This award confirms that we’re developing products that are at the forefront of groundbreaking design, functionality, and forward-looking innovation. The Red Dot Award is a well-established international seal of approval, and it’s fantastic that the eyes of the world are now turned to our electric bikes,” says Johanna Smedberg, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Cycleurope and head of Crescent’s product development.

- The e-bike is more relevant than ever. With the Crescent Elmer electric bike at the forefront and our concept of everyday heroes, we’re taking a whole new approach to sustainable mobility, which has become a ‘need’ for cyclists and a ‘must’ for society. With the Nordic Centre of Excellence for Electric Bicycles as our headquarters, we’re working with Nordic designers and basing our development and production in Sweden,” says Cycleurope's CEO Tony Grimaldi.

The Red Dot Award is organised by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen and is divided into three different disciplines: product design, communication design and construction concept. The award ceremony will be held at the Red Dot Gala in the Aalto Theatre and the Designers’ Night at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen on 19 June 2023.
