designSUPERMARKET to showcase young talents

There is so much more to advent in Prague than just the Christmas markets. You will be able to admire the works of young designers and purchase some original Christmas presents in Prague´s Archa Palace between December 6 and 9 during the sixth staging of the popular design show designSUPERMARKET.

The event will showcase the very best works by young Czech designers and international design studios. International design takes up a quarter of the whole exposition and visitors can look forward to seeing works from studios in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Germany. The exhibition takes up a whopping 1600m. Apart from exhibits by established designers visitors can purchase some outstanding works of art by young designers whose future is very promising even though they do not have complete collections as yet. This year´s designSUPERMARKET promises to be imbued with a truly fresh and innovative spirit.

designSUPERMARKET will also feature an interesting accompanying programme. For the first time there will be a series of lectures by some renowned speakers which should attract large audiences. Ewa Golebiowska, one of the leading lights of the Polish design scene and the curator of Cieszyn Castle which houses the first ever centre of Polish design, will be one of the speakers. She will be joined by Fulvio Ferrari, a columnist, curator and icon of Italian and world design, who will host a lecture and discussion followed by the launch of a new magazine published by the OKOLO Art Group. There will be a café to offer some refreshments, the children can enjoy a creative kids´ corner and there will be music provided by a range of DJs. Visitors will also be able to browse round an on-site bookstore offering a variety of design and visual communication publications.
