Eco-friendly holiday – take the whole family on an adventure to the Czech countryside
Do you want to pick wild strawberries in the woods and make a bead on a blade of grass, feel the grass between your toes and enjoy an evening swim in the lake? Then you should go on a treasure hunt in the Czech countryside of southern Bohemia and embrace life and your holidays together with your family.

The natural wonders of Šumava National park
The Šumava National park consists of many natural wonder, two of which are the glacial lakes, Plešné and Cerne. Their alpine feel is reminiscent of the pristine lakes in Canada and is enhanced by the rugged landscape around it. A hike to the top is an incredible experience. Thanks to the relatively light-hearted terrain and the impressive landscape Šumava is a real hiking paradise for the whole family. If you want to, there’s also an opportunity to visit the vineyards of southern Moravia, such as Mikulov and Znojmo, just less than 3 hours drive from the Šumava National park. The Czech Republic may not be able to offer its visitors a maritime experience, but the next best water adventure is found between the hills of Šumava. The Lipno Dam is the largest body of water in the Czech Republic and is an ideal place for the family to get to try all sorts of water activities and really get wet behind the ears.
An active family holiday in Šumava should definitely include a visit to one of the most scenic cities in the country - Cesky Krumlov with its well-preserved UNESCO-protected historic centre. Further down along the river you will come to the proud medieval castle Rozmberk and the monastery in Vyšší Brod, where the monks has been a source of valuable knowledge for centuries. Your holidays in Šumava should also include a tour of the monastery in Zlata Koruna, which surprises and seduces with its idyllic location on the banks of the Vltava River.
In tune with nature on a eco-friendly farm
One and a half hour drive from Šumava National Park you can stay at the organic farm Křížové pole. The farm is located at the foot of the mountain Vyšší Brod. The farm was built in 1774 by the Cistercian order. In conjunction with a stay here, you will take part in household chores such as milking the goats, repairing fences and you get to try goat cheese, homemade jams, chutneys, pickled vegetables and herbs from the garden.
In the evening you will take part in a big feast were you will be served dinner with food from the farm. Without a doubt, the food tastes nothing like the food coming from the super market. The farm is especially suitable for families with children because it is surrounded by forest, which offers a variety of options for walking, cycling and berry and mushroom picking.
In South Bohemia, you get a holiday that will be valuable both for yourselves and for the children. You get a glimpse of the farmer's everyday life and work - exciting and educational! You also might have talks about how you make conscious eco-friendly choices at the same time as you are creating good habits with your children. Altogether a holiday in southern Bohemia invites you to many memorable moments in divine nature!
