Enjoy the celebration of wine in the Czech Republic
The Grape Harvest Festival ranks among the most popular social events for wine experts and wine lovers. Celebrations will take place in numerous Czech and Moravian towns and they commence the most beautiful activity on vineyards – collecting grapes, pressing, making of “burčák”/new wine and wine. For the rest of us, it is a great celebration of tasteful drink.
The most famous one is probably the Historical Vintage Festival in Znojmo. The 22nd celebration will take place from 14th to 15th September when the whole city will be full of life. Many Czech music stars, folklore companies and fencers will perform, you will be able to find markets on several squares and organizers have prepared a great programme for children. A procession with King John of Bohemia and his suite will go through the city. You will be able to taste high-quality wines and burčák/new wine in restaurants and on the streets.
The traditional Pálava Wine Harvest Festival will take place this weekend in Mikulov. The celebration of wine is organized in many other Moravian wine towns and villages – we invite you to the Strážnice Vintage Festival (15th September), the Bzenec Vintage Festival (21st – 22nd September) and the Valtice Vintage Festival (6th October).
Grapes have been grown in Bohemia for a long time, too. We want to invite you to the Karlštejn Vintage Festival from 29th to 30th September. The celebration traditionally takes place under the supervision of King Charles VI. You can virtually travel to the time of King IV’s reign when he visited the Karlštejn castle.
We should also mention the Roudnice Vintage Festival, which will take place on 15th September in the Baroque chateau and its parks. Organizers will offer wine, a music programme, and fun on three music stages and one new dance stage.
Prague experiences wine as well! Some events have already taken place but the Grébovka Vintage Festival (14th – 15th September) and the Trója Vintage Festival (20th September) are waiting for you.
