Please do not let your level of ability be the only thing to influence your choice. For lovers of relaxation and wellness there are golf courses situated just a stone throw away from renowned Czech spa towns. If it is history and romantic settings of castles and chateaux which hit the spot for you, you will have plenty courses to choose from.

Czech Republic – The Golf Republic

There are almost 100 golf courses in the Czech Republic and 46 of them have at least 18 holes. This is why the Czech Republic became known as “The Golf Republic”. The majority of golf courses are located in the Czech capital or in its immediate surroundings. The second most popular area for golfers is in West Bohemia where it is possible to combine golf with a stay in one of the spa and wellness towns. North Moravia and the area close to the city of Ostrava, in particular, also offer a great selection of courses. The best known course in this region is Prosper Golf Resort Celadna which regularly hosts a PGA European Tour event.

Play in a castle park or with a view of the Karlstejn Castle

Many of the Czech golf courses are situated either within castle grounds winding their way through beautiful parks or are located near one of the hundreds of Czech castles and chateaux. The beauty of these ancient English parks will create a special atmosphere for your round of golf. A fine example of these courses is Queen´s Park Golf Club Mysteves. While playing at Karlstejn Golf Resort you will enjoy stunning views of this magnificent and well-known Czech castle.

Golf and wellness

The oldest golf courses of the Czech Republic can be found in the West Bohemian spa triangle. The combination of golf and wellness is proving to be popular with golfers from all over the world. Golf in the spa towns enjoys a long tradition dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. The first Czech golf course was opened in 1904 in Karlovy Vary. The golf course in nearby Marianske Lazne was opened just a year later by King Edward VII and in 2003 another member of the British Royal Family, this time Queen Elizabeth II, granted the course the “Royal” title.
