Holiday on the farm in the Czech Republic
Agrotourism offers the possibility of spending a holiday in typical rural conditions. You can even volunteer to help the running of the farm and thus earn some money towards the stay itself. The aim of this sort of holiday is a return to life in the countryside and getting closer to nature. You will have the opportunity to come into close contact with farm animals and plants.
Ploughing, sowing or even harvesting. People from the city do not come across things like this every day. Feeding, milking, taking animals out to pasture – you probably only know this from the stories your great grandparents used to tell. And it is precisely all of these activities which await you on an agricultural holiday. If you don’t want to actively join in, you can just watch how your hosts manage to get their work done with ease. Or indulge yourself in a horse ride through the surrounding area. This is to say that lots of farms specialist in horse riding lessons. And after a day packed with wonderful experiences, an unprecedented feast awaits you – you will dine on food from the farm itself. It most certainly won’t taste like food from the supermarket.
Modern farming
The very pinnacle in this field is ECO agrotourism operated on farms which hold an environmentally friendly farming certificate. Here, you can familiarise yourself with procedures for cultivating crops without using chemical fertilisers and natural rearing of animals in the open countryside. All products from biofarms are subject to strict checks, but in return for this, they can boast the BIO trademark.
The countryside is paradise for children
Spending the holidays on a farm need not necessarily be every child’s dream (nowadays children prefer to spend most of their time at the computer), but try it and you will see how your offspring change beyond all recognition. They will soon become enthused with all things to do with farming. They can touch the animals and even look after them. Feeding farm animals in the morning really is a great experience. Some farms cater especially for families with children and accommodate them in every possible way.
