The “Living Street Festival” promises to bring great entertainment to Plzen

The multi-genre “Living Street Festival” taking place between June 23 and September 9 will bring sixteen days of great entertainment to the West Bohemian city. Showcasing Czech and international bands, theatre companies and performances for children, the festival will involve local people and local businesses. The project promises to be an interesting summer event with a programme appealing to Czech as well as international visitors.

The event is being organised by ART Prometheus, a company which has specialised in staging theatre and outdoor projects all over Europe and beyond for more than 10 years. There will be more than 60 concerts taking place during the festival and visitors can look forward to seeing bands such as Toxique, The Prostitutes, Čankišou, Republic of Two, Please the Trees, The Colorblinds, Gulo Čar, Bitumen Beat. Among the well-known musicians will be Jan Burian, Lenka Dusilova, Peter Lipa, Michal Pavlíček, Monika Načeva and many others. The international stars of the Festival will include Baron Bane from Sweden and Canja Rave from Brazil. These highly acclaimed musicians will be accompanied on the professional stage by a number of emerging local bands. The visitors will be asked to vote for the best band and the most popular band will have chance to perform at the United Islands Festival in Prague in 2013.

The so called “Plzen Hyde Park” will be available in the city´s park for 10 days during the festival providing organisations and individuals with a place where they can present their opinions, their work and their vision. The festival will also offer dozens of fairy tales for children as well as street performances from renowned theatre companies such as Theatre Continuo, Spitfire Company, V.O.S.A. Theatre and Teatr Novogo Fronta.

“The power of the “Living Street Festival” will be in its colourfulness and openness. We will create a place without barriers ideal for meeting friends, neighbours and families with children,” says Jakub Vedral, the director of the Festival.

The festival will be supported by numerous partners such as the OKD Foundation, which will bring the first wheelchair-friendly bar in the Czech Republic, and Kostelecke uzeniny, the partner of Plzen Promenade and the regular barbecue at the Square of the Republic. All of the events at the festival will be admission free.
