Didriksons launches Dario and Varja – the first commercial jackets made with EcoLactam®
Didriksons now launches Dario and Varja, two key styles marking the brand’s first commercial application of EcoLactam®, a durable nylon solution with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. The launch represents an important step in scaling responsible material innovation from pilot projects into volume‑driving products.
After several years of development and testing, EcoLactam® is now introduced in styles crafted for everyday use and broad consumer appeal. With Dario and Varja, Didriksons demonstrates how high performance, durability and reduced environmental impact can coexist in commercial outerwear.
The EcoLactam® journey began with the CXI pilot project, introduced in 2024 as the first jacket ever made with the material. Since then, Didriksons and EcoLactam® producer Fibrant have worked closely to optimise processes, ensure traceability and validate performance at scale.

Commercial styles built for real use
Both Dario and Varja are crafted as reliable outerwear for changing weather conditions, combining technical performance with a clean, contemporary design. The EcoLactam® fabric is paired with a high‑performance laminate delivering 15,000 mm water‑column protection according to ISO standards, ensuring full weather protection without compromise.
EcoLactam® is a polyamide material developed by Fibrant using patented production processes that reduce greenhouse‑gas emissions by up to 70% compared to conventional nylon.

Scaling innovation responsibly
The launch of Dario and Varja lays the foundation for a broader rollout of EcoLactam® within Didriksons’ collections. From spring/summer 2026, the material will be introduced with Dario and Varja, along side additional commercial styles, followed by further expansion in autumn/winter 2026.

Expanding the EcoLactam® portfolio
Beyond Dario and Varja, EcoLactam® is already being implemented across a broader range of products. For spring/summer 2026, six styles contain more than 50 percent EcoLactam®, followed by 33 styles in autumn/winter 2026. This expansion further demonstrates Didriksons’ commitment to scaling lower‑impact materials across commercial collections and integrating responsible innovation at volume.
