Interview with Albin Dahlin, editor-in-chief, Sjöfartstidningen

Sjöfartstidningen supports DSM2023 as Silver Sponsor and Media Partner, what contributed to make this decision?
DSM2023 is undoubtedly the most important Maritime event in Northern Europe this year. Sjöfartstidningen is Sweden’s leading shipping journal covering all sectors of shipping, but also ports, R&D, education, and suppliers. It is an honor for us to have the opportunity to work together with the DSM team to make this event a success.

What are your expectations for DSM2023?
This is my first time at DSM, so my expectations are high! I hope to meet many interesting people from the maritime industry in various parts of Europe and create valuable connections. My colleagues from Sjöfartstidningen (The Swedish Shipping Gazette) and I will also take an active role in the event as we will report on-site and produce various video interviews with exciting guests.

What is your best memory from DSM2022?
This year will be my first at DSM, but I have heard many great stories from the last session. This is obviously the place to be if you have any connection to the maritime business or shipping industry.

What do you find are the opportunities and the biggest challenges in the Shipping Industry today?
The challenges regarding all dimensions of sustainability. Everyone in the industry is talking about decarbonization and is trying to find new ways to reduce the CO2 footprint from their operations. But there are still no clear answers regarding the fuels of the future. But luckily, there are so many initiatives going on right now regarding research and innovation in this field.

How would you describe DSM in one word?
Future!

And finally, what is your best maritime memory?
The many ferry trips from Sweden to Denmark together with my beloved grandmother in my childhood.
