Ann Hallenberg sings Baroque favourites

On 28 August, the celebrated mezzo-soprano Ann Hallenberg will be holding a long-awaited concert at Drottningholms Slottsteater of some of her personal Baroque favourites – with much passion and rhythm.

Ann Hallenberg is an internationally renowned opera star, recognised as one of the world’s leading Baroque singers. For the past few years she has been Artist in Residence at the historical Drottningholm theatre, and with her solo concert Dopo notte – After night, she will bring her magnificent voice into magical harmony with a decor that has remained untouched since the 1700s.

Ann Hallenberg explains her love for Baroque music:
“Baroque music is immediate. It works its way into our bodies with its rhythmic beats and melting melodies and we cannot but surrender to its great passion and expressiveness,” she says.
The music will be provided by the Drottningholm Theatre Orchestra led by conductor Stefano Montanari.

Drottningholms Slottsteater, built in 1766, is world-unique in being so well-preserved, with stage machinery that remains in use to this day. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is open to the public for performances and guided tours.

Ann Hallenberg has sung at the world’s leading opera houses, festivals and concert halls, and her performances have earned her glowing reviews. She is currently singing the title role in a critically acclaimed production of Handel’s Agrippina at Drottningholms Slottsteater, which runs until 21 August.
