Mozart operas from Drottningholms Slottsteater reach new audiences
Three opera productions that were originally premiered at Sweden’s Drottningholms Slottsteater will appear this spring in Barcelona and Bordeaux. Marc Minkowski conducts the productions of The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and Così fan tutte, which will be performed in succession for the first time.
The three operas were staged by the same artistic team and recorded at Drottningholms Slottsteater from 2015 to 2017. Audiences will now be able to see them one day after another in a veritable Mozart marathon. The trilogy, with librettos by Lorenzo Da Ponte, are due to be played at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona on 7 to 25 April and at the Opéra National de Bordeaux from 20 May to 6 June. They will be conducted by Marc Minkowski and directed by Ivan Alexandre, with sets and costumes by Antoine Fontaine. The operas have also been performed on various occasions at theOpéra Royal in Versailles.

Drottningholms Slottsteater was built in 1766 and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is open to the public for performances and guided tours. This season’s premiere at Drottningholms Slottsteater is Vivaldi’s Il Giustino.
