Outdoor tours at Drottningholms Slottsteater

The guided tour season at Drottningholms Slottsteater is now open. This year for the first time, we will be offering a Covid-safe tour of the unique theatre building from the outside. Other news includes an exhibition of 18^th century fashion and a family tour of the theatre where adults and children can discover its magic. All tours are held in small groups and in compliance with current Covid guidelines.

Drottningholm is one of Sweden’s World Heritage sites and one of Stockholm’s most popular tourist attractions. In the middle of the royal park stands Drottningholms Slottsteater, an intact 18^th century theatre that offers guided tours and stages period opera productions.

Drottningholms Slottsteater opened its doors to this year’s first visitors on 30 April. During May, there will be tours of the theatre itself at the weekends, and from 1 June until 30 September the tours will be run daily under Covid-safe conditions. Those who wish to make the best of their visit can bring a picnic blanket to enjoy the glorious royal park.

The daily tours inside and outside the theatre give visitors the chance to learn more about the unique building and enjoy some of its magnificent environments. Thematic tours are varied, but are always based on ideas, people or events linked to the theatre, such as historical wallpapers, occultism or Gustav III and his mother, Lovisa Ulrika. The family tours make the history of the theatre exciting even for the youngest visitors.

There will also be performances at Drottningholms Slottsteater in the summer arranged for audiences in compliance with the current Covid guidelines. First out is the family comic opera Beauty and the Beast, which will premiere on 22 May. This will be followed on 7 August by the premiere of Handel’s Agrippina.
