Drottningholms Slottsteater proudly presents one of the world's greatest mezzo-sopranos, Sweden's very own Anne Sofie von Otter, joined by one of the most promising sopranos of the younger generation Elin Rombo in a programme of late 18th century arias and duets by J C F Bach, Gluck, and Telemann - framed by a Mozart symphony.
In addition the the well-known summer opera productions the Drottningholm Court Theatre arranges numerous entertaining and educational activities within their Esprit! program, such as concerts by popular and prominent soloists Anne Sofie von Otter, Elin Rombo and the young Russian star Julia Lezhneva, but also a magical family show, The Magic Flute and opera introductions.
Drottningholms Slottsteater hosts one of the highlights of the Baltic Sea Festival in August. Through a partnership with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mozart's The Magic Flute will be presented in a fully staged performance created by director Daniel Harding and tenor Andrew Staples. This production was previously presented at the prestigious Lucerne festival in Switzerland.

Genom ett nytt spännande samarbete ges Mozarts Trollflöjten med Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester på Drottningholms Slottsteater. Uppsättningen är utarbetad av orkesterns chefsdirigent Daniel Harding och tenoren Andrew Staples, och har tidigare framförts på den prestigefyllda Lucernefestivalen i Schweiz.
I konstnären Iris Smeds libretto vävs Anna Järvinens sånger samman till en historia om Marie Antoinettes sista dagar i fängelset La Conciergerie 1793. En duellartad diskussion rörande klass, skuld och ansvar löper som en tråd genom föreställningen. Saga Gärde regisserar Anna Järvinen i rollen som Marie Antoinette i en föreställning inspirerad av performance, tidig musikal och tableaux vivants.
Haydn's opera Orlando Paladino, which will open at the Drottningholms Slottsteater on July 29, is based on the medieval legend of the knight Roland (Orlando), who is madly in love with Angelica, Queen of Cathay. The performance stars Rickard Söderberg, Kirsten Blaise and Pietro Spagnoli, all of whom are internationally known for their interpretation of 18th century opera.
