Karin Apelman FAR’s new Secretary General
- We are very pleased indeed that Karin Apelman has agreed to accept the challenge of becoming FAR’s new Secretary General. We are convinced that her background and experience make Karin very well-suited to lead the profession and our organization into the future, says FAR’s president Magnus Larsson.
Karin Apelman is presently a member of the boards at Handelsbanken, Svenska Kraftnät, Bliwa Life insurance and The Swedish Foundation for International Co-operation in Research and Higher Education (STINT). Karin will leave all these positions in conjunction with this year’s AGMs. Karin has previously held several assignments within the Swedish business world and in the public sector, such as the Civil Aviation Administration and Swedavia. Karin was also Director General of EKN between 2007–2016.
- I’m looking forward, as FAR’s Secretary General, to contributing to strengthening the role of the profession as a significant player for a long-term sustainable business world and society, says Karin Apelman.
Karin Apelman starts her appointment at FAR on 1st June 2018, when she takes over from Dan Brännström who has been FAR’s Secretary General since 2004. Dan’s contract as Secretary General comes to an end on 20 July, his 60th birthday.
- Dan Brännström has, by his leadership and his visibility, contributed in a distinct way to the high level of trust that the profession enjoys. During Dan’s years at FAR, the organization has also evolved from being an institute for auditors to an organization for all professions within the accountancy profession”, says Magnus Larsson.
