ISSCR 2015: Why Stockholm when it comes to Stem Cell research and regenerative medicine?

In June Stockholm hosted the annual meeting of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) - one of the most important events in the field of Stem Cell research and Therapy. Under the umbrella of “Stockholm Center of Excellence Stem Cells”, some of the region's leading researchers and entrepreneurs gathered to talk about why they have chosen Stockholm.

Some of the reasons given are Sweden´s stable medical system with high quality and long-term follow-up of patients, the interdisciplinary collaborations between research and clinical activities, a regulatory system that is supportive, rigorous and ethically strong, as well as a wide range of possibilities for strong research funding.
