Invitation to a digital press meeting in connection with the Northern Forest 21 exercise

We would like to invite the media to learn more about the Finnish Army’s top priority exercise, Northern Forest, which comprises of some 7 000 participants, of which approximately 350 are Swedish soldiers and officers.

The meeting will be held on Teams, on Tuesday 25 May 2021, at approximately 3 to 4.30 p.m. Finnish time/ 2 to 3.30 p.m. Swedish time. The meeting will be held in Swedish and English and there will be interview opportunities.

Chief of Operations of the Finnish army, Brigadier General Rami Saari, will host the meeting. There will be opportunities to discuss the exercise with the exercise director and participating units. The preliminary programme of the meeting is outlined below:

Brigadier General Rami Saari will present the development of the Finnish army from a northern perspective.

The exercise director, Colonel Kari Pietikäinen will present the purpose of the exercise and the way in which it will be conducted.

The head of the Swedish Third brigade, Colonel Mats Ludvig, will present the Swedish contribution, the purpose of the exercise and the defence cooperation with Finland.
