Fossil Free Marine receives a second Swedish Government grant approval

Fossil Free Marine has received a second approval from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Naturvårdsverket, regarding a new grant application for the production, installation and operation of a Fossil Free Marine fuel station designed specifically for large scale distribution of renewable fuels for boats, such as HVO100 renewable diesel (e.g. Neste My, from Finnish Neste).

The grant from KlimatKlivet is for “Incremental costs associated with supplying renewable fuels”, and is part of a Swedish government scheme, in support of local climate investments. Naturvårdsverket states that the initiative; “…is among those that exhibit the highest sustainable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions per invested krona (SEK)”.

Fossil Free Marine welcome the decision by Naturvårdsverket, which will enable the company to install a second marine fuel station, dedicated to distribution of renewable drop-in biofuels, such as HVO100.

Co-founder and CEO of Fossil Free Marine Karl-Oskar Tjernström says; -I appreciate the decision by Naturvårdsverket to support also a second grant, for installation of another one of our new unmanned floating marine fuel stations. This installation will be made in a true prime location in the inner Stockholm archipelago, enabling pleasure boats as well as commercial traffic to make the important and needed shift to renewable fuel.

-Fossil Free Marine has developed a modern turn-key solution that is both economically viable, safe and environmentally friendly. When up and running, we estimate that this station alone will be able to deliver savings of over 5.000 tons of CO2e per year, states Karl Oskar Tjernström, CEO.

Fossil Free Marine are currently finalizing the procurement process for the first production ahead of launch 1H 2022.
