Genesys Conferencing Increases European Leadership

Montpellier, France – May 27, 2004 – Genesys Conferencing, a global multimedia conferencing leader, today announced a series of corporate contract wins with Northern European companies to provide conferencing services throughout the world. The contracts include the paper company UPM, the media company SanomaWSOY and a chemicals company, Kemira, all based in Finland. In addition, a contract was secured with TAC, a Swedish supplier of building systems. Each deal involves the delivery of multimedia desktop conferencing services based on Genesys Meeting Center, a communication and collaboration platform combining audio, video and Web conferencing into a single interface. Simple point-and-click commands allow moderators to manage their audio conference calls on line, deliver high-impact PowerPoint presentations, virtually share any document or application in real time, take participants on guided Web tours, conduct real-time surveys and polls for immediate feedback, and record any meeting for playback later. Nigel Dunn, Genesys Director of Northern Europe, explained that the contracts confirm the Nordics as one of the fastest growing regions in the world in terms of desktop conferencing adoption. Global Presence “These contracts include conferencing services beyond Europe, including the U.S. and, in the case of UPM and Kemira, Asia-Pacific, where Genesys Conferencing is the region’s largest single conferencing provider. They exemplify our strategy of providing local support to global clients, wherever they are based,” said Dunn. Multimedia Minute The deals are based on Genesys Conferencing’s new Multimedia Minute bundled pricing plan, which provides unlimited use of Genesys Meeting Center, on demand, with no subscription fees, minimum usage levels or seat licenses. Enterprises are simply charged a flat fee per minute, per user, for any combination of audio, Web or video conferencing services. Genesys Conferencing will also be delivering consulting services, including training, awareness programmes and incentive schemes, within these organisations to ensure they derive measurable benefits from their conferencing services The New Contracts UPM is one of the world's leading forest products companies, with production facilities in 16 countries and an extensive sales network comprising over 170 sales and distribution companies. UPM's total revenue in 2003 was close to €10 billion, and the group employs approximately 35,000 people. “As a global company, we were looking for a conferencing provider that itself is truly global,” said Markku Haapamäki, Vice President of IT and e-Business. “We at UPM find the Genesys Meeting Center to be a user-friendly tool which completes our collaboration facilities. With efficient communication we can enrich our service to our customers and partners." SanomaWSOY is the leading Nordic media group and among the five largest magazine publishers in Europe. The company recorded net sales of €2.4 billion in 2003 and has about 15,600 employees. “We started using Genesys Meeting Center in one of SanomaWSOY’s divisions, and we found it to be a simple and effective way of communicating between managers,” said Sulo Nuutinen, Director of Information Technology. “Based on these very positive experiences, we are now introducing Genesys across our entire group to reduce costs and improve communication." “We are always looking for ways to be more cost-effective, and we have found that Genesys can offer us some very efficient ways to communicate, both within Finland and abroad,” said Jori Fabricius, Vice President of Procurement and Logistics. “But cutting costs is actually not our main goal. More important for us is the opportunity Genesys Conferencing offers us as a multinational company to get people closer to each other and to speed up decision-making and execution.” TAC Sweden is the Swedish part of the international TAC group, which supplies integrated systems for building automation. TAC's headquarters is in Malmö, Sweden, with regional headquarters in Dallas and Sydney.
