Challenges for Aid Effectivness

On May 30, SITE and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs will host a full-day conference on "Challenges for Aid Effectiveness". The first conference of what is to become a yearly Development Day will be devoted to aid effectiveness - an area that has received increasing international attention in recent years. The purpose of the conference is to bring together scholars and practitioners to discuss some recent findings and remaining challenges for aid to be effective. Among the themes that will be discussed are the causes and consequences of aid volatility, aid and growth, ownership and alignment, measures of success, the politics of aid and the changing financial landscape in the developing world. The hope and ambition is that the debate will serve as an input into the ongoing debate within the Swedish aid community on how to design aid for the 21st century.
