Hogia employee awarded for developing public transport standards

Introduction Ulf Bjersing has won the InformNorden IT Award 2015. The purpose of the award is to promote technical solutions that make public transport more efficient and attractive. Ulf has over 25 years’ experience of developing information systems. Among other things, he was awarded for his work in developing standards for Nordic and European public transport systems.

“Ulf was an early advocator of open interfaces. He is primarily being awarded for his role in promoting open architecture in the development of Nordic and European standards,” says Krister Nordland, Secretary of the committee for InformNorden.“His work has made an important contribution to Nordic public transport.”

“I am delighted about the award and pleased that the importance of open interfaces is being spotlighted,” comments Ulf. “Because there are often many suppliers involved in regional public transport, open interface systems are an important prerequisite for long-term sustainability. Rather than being bound to a specific technical solution, customers can enjoy the combined benefits of systems from various suppliers.”

Ulf works at Hogia Public Transport Systems and is one of the main architects behind PubTrans, Hogia’s integrations system for public transport information. He has also worked for Hogia in many major EU projects for improving European public transport.
