Isles of Scilly Steamship Group signs with Hogia Ferry Systems
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has contracted Hogia Ferry Systems to implement their reservation and ticketing system, BOOKIT.
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group (ISSG) is a historic company dating back to 1920.It provides a year-round passenger and cargo services between the UK mainland and the Isles of Scilly, 45 km off the British south west coast. In addition to operating passenger and freight ships, ISSG also has its own airline, Skybus, which runs flights from Exeter, Newquay and Land’s End airports to St Mary’s on the Isles.ISSG is a privately owned company with some 800 shareholders many of whom live on the islands. The archipelago of the Isles of Scilly has only 2250 inhabitants, but the unique flora, fauna and white sandy beaches make it a haven for tourists looking for a semi-tropical island experience close to home.
“The bookings for the freight ferry, for the passenger ferry and for the fleet of eight aircraft will all be handled using the BOOKIT.This a very exciting project for us, not least since it is the first time that we will support airline travel. We are very much looking forward to a close and long term partnership with ISSG and are already working on their implementation for a go-live later this year”, says Niclas Blomstrom, Managing Director of Hogia Ferry Systems.
After a week visiting Hogia Ferry Systems’ operational office in Vasa in Finland, and their customer Destination Gotland in Sweden, the ISSG’s visiting project team ended with a memorable visit to the Hogia Group’s head office in Stenungsund, Sweden. ISSG’s CEO, Robert Goldsmith, signed the contract with Hogia’s founder and CEO, Bert-Inge Hogsved.
“We hope for a long lasting and fruitful relationship with Hogia. We are confident that BOOKIT will enable us to streamline our business, increase what we can offer today and significantly improve the customer experience”, says Robert Goldsmith.
