PhD joins IBG in future proofs cities project

IBG welcome Aishwarya Raghunatha, our new PhD student in future proof cities graduate school based at the HQ in Norrköping, Sweden.

The school focus on to increase knowledge about sustainable urban development in small and medium-sized cities such as Gävle, Västerås, Norrköping, Eskilstuna, Knivsta, Borlänge and Falun. The Business Research School is run by the University of Gävle in collaboration with Dalarna University and Mälardalen University. The research is interdisciplinary, and the doctoral students will have different backgrounds and work in different disciplines, such as engineering, environmental and social sciences.

At IBG the project focus on Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and the future of air vehicles where hydrogen-powered or electric-powered delivery drones and drone taxis can contribute to sustainable and environmentally friendly transport systems in urban regions and urban-environments.
The PhD project focuses on the intersection of the first and second objectives:
How social sustainability aspects characteristics from the perspective of the community inhabitant are affected by digital and technological climate solutions for resilience in the critical infrastructures.

Innovations in digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), High Performance Computing (HPC) and transport take place at high speed and this technological development will sooner or later meet both needs and requirements of urban planning and urban design. This collaborative project will be at the forefront of research. The aim is that research results can serve as decision support for urban planning and technological development.

“I’m a highly motivated individual in the field of Sustainability, equipped with Master’s in Sustainability Engineering and Management. Having handled significant projects at renowned companies during academics and providing solutions for crucial CSR challenges through scientific standpoints, I bring the skills necessary to deal with real issues for the benefit of business and society. Now, being a part of a forward-thinking company and pursuing a PhD, I am a bridge between corporate and academic worlds to bring about socio-technical transitions for a sustainable future. This is truly exhilarating!” Says Aishwarya
