IRF professor Rickard Lundin is awarded the prestigious Hannes Alfvén Medal by the European Geosciences Union

Press release from the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (Institutet för rymdfysik, IRF): http://www.irf.se/link/pressrel_080423 Professor Rickard Lundin, head of the Solar Terrestrial Physics research programme at the Swedish Institute of Space Physics (Institutet för rymdfysik, IRF), has been awarded the prestigious Hannes Alfvén medal for 2008 by the European Geosciences Union "for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of measurement techniques for space plasma and the important new knowledge that has been generated by these new measurements." The Hannes Alfvén Medal is so named in recognition of the scientific achievements of Hannes Alfvén, winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1970. It is awarded for outstanding scientific contributions towards the understanding of plasma processes in the solar system and other cosmical plasma environments.
