Jessica Bäckman will represent Sweden in FIA Motorsport Games

Team Sweden has confirmed its entry for the FIA Motorsport Games at Vallelunga where Jessica Bäckman will be driving her Hyundai i30 N TCR car in the Touring Car Cup for the Italian team Target Competition. - I’m very happy to get the opportunity represent my country in a big race like FIA Motorsport Games, says Jessica Bäckman.

November 1-3 at the 4 km long Vallelunga Circuit near Rome in Italy, the FIA Motorsport Games event are held and will see competitors from all around the world chasing the gold, silver and bronze medals. It will be six distinctive racing categories, where the Touring Car Cup is one of those categories. Each National Sporting Authority (ASN) will nominate one driver for the competition, where Team Sweden has decided that Jessica Bäckman will represent Sweden in the Touring Car Cup category.

The weekend will begin with two practice sessions of 30 minutes each, following up with two qualifying sessions that will establish the starting order for the races. There will be two races, top-10 finishers from Race 1 will score points and top-15 finishers in Race 2. The gold medal will be awarded to the driver who scores the total highest number of points of the two races, which means that consistency is important to drive home the gold medal. The medals will be awarded at the prizegiving during the closing ceremony in Rome.

Among the world elite – during her second year of racing 
During her second season of Touring Car Racing, Jessica has scored three podium spots in three different championships. Now she gets the opportunity to represent Sweden and compete against world level drivers in the FIA Motorsport Games, fighting for the medals.

The track looks awesome, it has some fast and flowing sections as well as slow tricky sections where you need smooth driving style. The event will be special with a lot of good world level drivers from different countries and will be a perfect way to end the season on, says Jessica Bäckman

The FIA Motorsport Games will be held at Vallelunga, Italy from November 1-3.

Racingsyskonen Andreas och Jessica Bäckman inledde sina respektive racingkarriärer som blott 9 och 7 år gamla. Under 2019 tävlar syskonen i prestigefyllda TCR Europe tillsammans med det flerfaldigt prisbelönta, italienska teamet Target Competition. Syskonens tävlingsbilar är varsin Hyundai i30 N TCR.

The racing siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman started their racing careers as 9 and 7 years old. They have during the years been competing in big championships like STCC, Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, and the British counterpart TCR UK, with fantastic success as results. During 2019 the sibilings are competing in the prestigious TCR Europe together with the multiple award winning Italian team Target Competition. The siblings racecars are Hyundai i30 N TCR.

This resulted in a positive qualifying, as well as tough races for both Bäckman’s. In the end - Jessica managed to finish on a well-earned podium spot in the final race of the weekend – her third podium spot this season.
