Video editing gone mobile with JayCut

Stockholm, Sweden, September 15, 2009 - Today, JayCut announced that its Online Video Editor will be available on Moblin-based ultra-portable devices like netbooks and mobile internet devices (MIDs). The result is that anyone can capture a video, edit and publish it online from anywhere, without being tied to a desktop computer. Creativity just went mobile.

The JayCut Video Editor is based on Moblin, an open source Linux operating system which is optimized for Intel® AtomTM processor based devices. Through collaboration with Intel, JayCut has from an early stage been able to work with the recently released Moblin v2 optimized for Intel® AtomTM processor-based platforms. One of the key new features of Moblin v2 is an easy-to-use and intuitive user interface that was built for advanced Internet, media and social networking experiences.

"The potential of Moblin technology to unlock true rich media and Internet experiences is tremendous, says Jonas Hombert, CEO of JayCut." I believe that we now could be looking at the experience which everyone will have in their pocket tomorrow. Making our editor available on ultra-portable devices was therefore a no-brainer for us."

Will we soon see journalists capturing, editing and publishing a video news story directly from the scene, or football fans sharing the real-time experience of a game with the World. JayCut and Intel are working with system manufacturers like Asus to bring these exciting opportunities of Moblin v2 technology to everyone's pocket.

"JayCut's Online Video Editor for Mobile devices is a great example of innovations being driven by the open source community," said Imad Sousou, Director of Intel's Open Source Technology Center. "By utilizing the advanced capabilities being provided by the open source Moblin project, JayCut can now deliver a compelling user experience on mobile devices based on the Intel Atom processor."
