New theatre performance – Very Tricky, Alfie Atkins

Gunilla Bergström’s Alfie Atkins has become a children’s classic, not only in Sweden, but also abroad. The books have been translated into 30 languages, and Gunilla was the first contemporary Swedish author to be translated into Arabic. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Alfie Atkins book, and this will be celebrated throughout Sweden. Here at Junibacken we are setting up a new theatre performance, Very Tricky, Alfie Atkins, in honour of the occasion. The performance will have its première on 5 October, and performances will then be held every day at 2.30 pm.

The performance tells how Alfie is allowed to borrow Dad’s toolbox, but he mustn’t use the sharp saw! He builds a special helicopter using hammer, nails and string, and flies out on an adventure in the jungle. There he meets giraffes and elephants, but gets stuck in the helicopter just as a ferocious lion approaches. How can get safely home again?

Very Tricky, Alfie Atkins is based on Gunilla Bergström’s book of the same name, published in 1973.
