Pressmeddelande -

International event for the Baltic Sea in Katrineholm

On April 16, Katrineholm will be the centre to map out innovative actions and solutions for better water quality in the Baltic Sea. For three days, members of the international network Baltic Sea City Accelerator Club gather in Katrineholm with guests from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.

- When the network meets up in Katrineholm it will be an important event where we can learn from each other and find innovative solutions to the challenges facing the Baltic Sea. By exploring together how municipalities with different conditions can contribute to improving the health of the Baltic Sea, we will strengthen our work to protect and preserve our marine resources, says Jenny Herbertsson who is Environmental Strategist/Water Coordinator and Project Leader BSCAC, Katrineholm municipality.

The theme of the event is to explore how even inland municipalities, such as Katrineholm, play a decisive role in the health of the Baltic Sea, despite its distance from the coast. Through lectures, workshops and field visits in Katrineholm and Nyköping, the members will deepen their knowledge of how everyone can play an important role in the development of the Baltic Sea.

- Having lecturers from various authorities, county boards, municipalities, research institutes and organizations attend the event is extremely valuable for our members. It gives them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge, build long-term collaborations and exchange ideas that can lead to measures to improve the health of the Baltic Sea, says Maja Larsson who is Climate Strategist and Project Coordinatior BSCAC, Katrineholm municipality.
