Two superstars at the Nobel Prize Concert

The great Maestro Gianandrea Noseda and renowned violinist Janine Jansen will perform at the Nobel Prize Concert on December 8th 2016.

Gianandrea Noseda is widely recognized as one of the leading conductors of our time. The Italian Maestro is the International Opera Awards Conductor of the Year 2016 and Musical America’s Conductor of the Year 2015. He was recently appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra beginning with the 2016/17 season. In the 2017/18 season he will become Music Director of the National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. – an appointment recognized internationally.

– We are very proud to welcome Maestro Gianandrea Noseda and the splendid violinist Janine Jansen to Stockholm, says Mr Stefan Forsberg, Executive and Artistic Director of the Stockholm Concert Hall and The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

– Gianandrea Noseda is withouth doubt one of the world's greatest conductors, as for instance his track record at the Teatro Regio in Torino, with the BBC Philharmonic and at the Mariinsky Theatre have proven again and again – and his recent appointments vigorously emphasize. We've had eyes and ears on him for many, many years and it is such an honour to welcome Maestro Noseda to his debut concert with The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Stefan Forsberg concludes.

The Nobel Prize Concert is part of the official Nobel Week program and held in honor of the current year's Nobel Laureates. Guests at the concert include the Nobel Laureates and their parties, the Swedish Royal Family and the guests of the Nobel Foundation. The general public is also offered the opportunity to attend. This year's program includes Wagner's Ouverture to the Flying Dutchman, Brahms' Violin Concerto and Beethoven Symphony No 6.

The exquisite dutch violinist Janine Jansen is the soloist in the Brahms concerto. She is admired worldwide both for her flawless technique and her ability to completely immerse herself into the music in intensely emotional performances. Janine Jansen has perfomed several times with The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and also worked with Gianandrea Noseda previously in fruitful artistic collaborations.

Stefan Forsberg has high expectations.

– This artistic combination, the wonderful conductor Gianandrea Noseda together with star violinist Janine Jansen and The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, is quite honestly what the Nobel Prize Concert is all about: presenting a concert of the highest possible international standard. With artists like Maestro Gianandrea Noseda and Janine Jansen, the artistic quality is remarkable.
