Mariane Orlando i Kina för sin sista föreställning

Premiärdansaren Mariane Orlando gör sorti efter sin allra sista föreställning, Beijing (Peking), juni 2008.

I rollen som drottningen, prinsens mor, har Orlando skrivit baletthistoria - redan som 18-åring 1953 gjorde hon debut i huvudrollen Odette/Odile, fast då i Mary Skeapings version på Kungliga Operan. Totalt är ca 100 personer från Sverige i Kina för att genomföra föreställningarna; dansare, tekniker samt övrig konstnärlig och administrativ personal. Ett gästspel av den här storleken är ovanligt; senast Kungliga Baletten gästade Kina var 1960.

I Kungliga Balettens Kina-gästpel med Svansjön ingår föreställningar även i Shanghai och Macau, där turnén avslutas den 28 juni.

The long skirt new vision "Swan Lake" staged in Beijing

"Almost the only ‘Swan Lake' version in long skirts so far, and for the first time the famous Royal Swedish Ballet performed on the stage of National Center for the Performing Arts."

"Long skirt made the dance movement more elegant and classic, but the only regrettable is that there was not clearly vision of the movement of legs in the famous dance by four little swans, comparing with the one with the short skirt."

With its legendary history, after 234 years development, the RSB has become one of the most distinguished ballet companies in the world and fostered many talented choreographers and world renowned dancers. The RBS's first visit of China was in 1960, this time the group return to China with a brand new vision "Swan Lake", for all costumes and stage design were newly completed in the year of 2008 and this is their first trip abroad after the successful debut in Sweden in April, 2008.

The RSB chose June 6 (the National day of Sweden) for their first performance in Beijing, emphasizing the importance of this performance. Besides, according to their artistic director Ms. Madeleine Onne, they had selected 4 boys from the High School affiliated to the Beijing Dance Academy, "They are very good, the choosing process was much easier than what I had expected, I am very happy with them" Madeleine said."
