Lars Wallin Fashion Stories: Explore haute couture and Eurovision fashion at Malmö museum

The exhibition Lars Wallin Fashion Stories is set to make its debut in Malmö. Nearly 100 couture pieces by the famous designer Lars Wallin will be displayed at the Malmö museum from 19 April 2024 until 12 January 2025.

Lars Wallin Fashion Stories celebrates elegance, innovation, and the timeless appeal of enduring design.

Exhibition at Malmö museum will encompass three themes:

  • Stage attire tailored explicitly for events such as Melodifestivalen and Eurovision Song Contest.
  • Couture, and other unique creations.
  • Atelier craftsmanship, where visitors can follow the creative process from sketch to couture completion.

Renowned stage attire

The exhibition features several notable pieces, including three dresses Petra Mede wore during the Eurovision Song Contest finals in 2016 and Carola Häggkvists costume from 2006.

Creativity, passion, and storytelling

Recognized as one of Sweden's foremost designers and fashion authors, Lars Wallin is revered for his mastery of refined elegance and passion for details. With over thirty years of experience, he consistently produces innovative and timeless works for icons such as Loreen, Petra Mede, Carola Häggkvist, and members of the Swedish Royal Family, among others.

Lars Wallin Fashion Stories premiered at Prince Eugene's Waldemarsudde in 2011 and has since toured prominent cultural venues throughout Sweden and Europe. As it reaches Malmö, the exhibition unveils many new features that the public has never seen before.

— The exhibition in Malmö is unique in several ways. First, it offers visitors a closer look into the creative process by enveloping the atelier with an on-site setup, complete with a projector and cutting table, demonstrating how a couture garment takes shape. Second, it's the first time we can showcase garments worn by the Swedish royal family, says Lars Wallin.

Lars Wallin Fashion Stories showcases the mastery of haute couture and deepens understanding and appreciation of artistry and the design process. Through this exhibition, visitors gain valuable insights into sustainable craftsmanship.
