MATH-CLUB LAUNCHING A STOCKHOLM BRANCH

MATH-CLUB, a social organization based in Los Angeles, CA, has launched a Stockholm branch. Known as STHLM MATHCLUB, the new club will have its first meeting November 11, 2007. Dr. Henrik Eriksson of Kungliga Tekniska högskolan will give a talk highlighting extraordinary math findings made by ordinary people. Using logic, he will answer such questions as whether it’s possible that men have more sex partners than women do. THE CONCEPT MATH-CLUB was formed to engage a group of math-inclined people in analytical discussions in an easy going atmosphere. The groundbreaking club has been featured in Time, Wired, and NPR as a unique phenomenon staging talks in advanced mathematics to audiences of diversely creative lay people. It has broadened interest in mathematics among those not professionally in the field. STHLM MATH-CLUB is run by musician Roni Brunn, founder of LA MATH-CLUB and originator of its concept and Joakim Vollert, great grandson of legendary DRAMATEN director Olof Molander.
