Memmo Raises $2m Seed Round and Launches European Platform for Connecting Fans with Celebrities

This week Memmo launches its new platform allowing fans to connect with well-known personalities through personalized video messages. Using Memmo, fans can pay celebrities to create video shoutouts for birthday greetings, Christmas cards, wedding toasts, company announcements and more. With $2 million in seed funding, Memmo starts off with an experienced team and investor base and hundreds of celebrities lined up to be part of the platform, including ice hockey player Börje Salming and TV personality Kristin Kaspersen.

Memmo's vision is “Personalized 1:1 fan experiences for everyone”. As the public has become closer to celebrities via social media, the company now wants to take the next step in that relationship by making personal messages available from your biggest idols.

“Memmo provides me a new and more personal way to be able to speak directly to my fans. I find that other social media platforms provide strong reach but can be overwhelming at times, versus Memmo’s 1:1 communication.” says Börje Salming, ice hockey player.

Memmo has raised $2 million in seed capital, led by Luxor Capital, a global investment firm that previously backed companies like Delivery Hero, VOI and Flixbus. Additional investors include Altitude Capital (Voi, Tise), and a strong group of angel investors investing privately including Per Brillioth (CEO Vostok New Ventures), Fredrik Hjelm, Douglas Stark and Keith Richman (Voi), Niklas and Joel Borg (founders of Way Out West music festival), Patrik Hedelin and Magnus Wiberg (founders of eEquity), Erik Engellau-Nilsson (CEO Norrsken) as well as Christoffer Norman and Eric Finnås Dahlström (Avito).

After introducing the platform in Sweden, the founders of Memmo will use the funding to present a pan- European brand that can be localized to fit every market.

“We are launching now in Sweden but know that the impact shoutouts have on fans truly is a pan European phenomenon. We think our experience and investor base will allow us to scale quickly to other countries while ensuring we maintain a distinctly European approach to all markets", says Tobias Bengtsdahl, COO at Memmo.

Memmo launches in Sweden on www.memmo.app and plans to expand to several more markets in 2020.

Memmo is a platform that offers personal video messages from famous profiles to their fans and followers. As a customer, you send a request of a certain message - a birthday greeting, an internal joke, something grande for the speech - and the profile decides what video messages to create and the price for delivering them. The video message is created, sent and paid directly on the platform. Memmo enables modern fan experiences and make them more personal than ever before.
