Mondelēz International invests $22 million in Marabou factory

STOCKHOLM, 8 June 2022 - Mondelēz International, Inc. (NASDAQ:MDLZ) makers of the nation’s favorite treats including Marabou, Daim and international brands such as Oreo and Toblerone, is investing $22 million to build a new production line for chocolate tablets in the company's factory in Upplands Väsby.

Today, Marabou tablets are manufactured on a production line that was installed in 1972, accounting for 90% of Marabou's production of chocolate tablets in Sweden. It is now time to replace it with a new, and modern, production line that will increase the capacity of the factory in Upplands Väsby.

- We are meeting future needs with a production line that is significantly more modern and efficient than today, the technical and digital development will enable us to meet our customers' needs, says Claire Fallen, Senior Director Manufacturing Nordics & Baltics.

-I believe that this modernization will improve the working environment for our employees, and attract new talent to our chocolate factory, says Claire Fallen.

Until the new line is in place, the existing production line will continue at full capacity, as usual. The new line will produce 28 000 Marabou tablets per hour, 691 000 tablets per day, 242 000 000 tablets per year - a capacity increase of up to 60%. 

- This investment will continue the modernization of our production processes in Upplands Väsby and ensure that we meet the need for a very efficient and robust delivery infrastructure for our iconic Marabou chocolate tablets, says Claire Fallen.
