Final sprint for Brexit domains at .EU

As is well known, the United Kingdom left the European Union, the EU, on 1 February 2020. This also changed the conditions required to hold a domain name under the .EU TLD. The whole of 2020 is a transitional period for the new rules, which enter into force on 1 January 2021. For holding a .EU domain, an individual, company or organization within the EEA (European Economic Area) is required, which includes all .EU nations plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

For those who still have .EU domains registered on data belonging to the United Kingdom or Gibraltar, it is necessary to change the ownership data as soon as possible.

Contact Name ISP if this concerns you. The domains will otherwise be locked for use on January 1 2021, and then deleted after March 2021.

More information and detailed regulations can be read at Eurid.
