Chemo Brain success continues at SXSW

The success for the Danish drama series Chemo Brain continues internationally. Not only was the series the first ever Danish series that has been shortlisted for premiere at the American film festival, Sundance Film Festival. Now it is selected for the competition at SXSW.

The series that follows a young man diagnosed with testicular cancer, is produced by Splay One Denmark for TV2.

When the team visited the Film Festival, it was an extraordinary experience as the small team of young, new talents put Denmark on the map with the only Danish series represented in the Índie Episodic´category. The response was overwhelming as the series was selected as one of few noteworty series at the festival "worth buying", according to Indiewire.

Indiewire recommends Chemo Brain as one of the top TV projects at Sundance Film Festival:

"Rohweder makes an empathetic yet backboned lead, while Håskjold’s tonal balance and comic timing carry things forward smoothly"

Back home Splay One have been enjoying the spotlight in the beginning of the year with nominations for the Danish TV Awards (Best Short Tv Series), Zulu Awards (Best Tv Series) and Robert/Danish Film Awards (Best Short TV Series). But most impressive of all the acknowledgement came in February when the series was selected for the South By South West Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. ´Chemo Brain´ is one of 14 episodic pilots in competition at the festival in March! And it's one of only two Danish film projects selected this year.

`Chemo Brain´ follows 28-year-old Oliver (Adam Ild Rohweder) who sees his normal life with friends, studies and potential new girlfriend being turned upside-down when he out of the blue is diagnosed with testicular cancer. Outside the hospital walls, life continues at a normal pace while Oliver´s life is on stand-by as medicine, treatment and being faced with his own mortality becomes reality. The series came to life after numerous long conversations with cancer patients and staff at the hospital.
