New advanced video analysis technology for child sexual abuse investigations

Investigation tool NetClean Analyze has been given a serious overhaul and new advanced video analysis technology, greatly enhancing law enforcement efficiency in child sexual abuse crime investigations. The solution is free of charge for law enforcement authorities and is currently in use in about 15 different countries. NetCleans close collaboration with law enforcement agencies around the world has helped make the tool user-friendly, robust and well-adapted to optimizing workflow for investigators.

There has been a rapid and steady increase in the spread of child sexual abuse content over the past decade, largely due to widespread and rapid technological developments in general. Crackdowns by law enforcement agencies are steadily increasing, not only in numbers and amount of material, but also in complexity. Law enforcement agencies are on the constant lookout for the most effective and easy-to-use tool in their efforts to remain a step ahead of the criminals – and NetClean Analyze is a leading edge alternative.

Over the past year, NetClean Analyze has reached and been implemented in a number of law enforcement agencies across the globe, and even more are currently testing out the solution. The Danish National Police are NetClean Analyze users:

- The new release of NetClean Analyze helps us more efficiently to review enormous amounts of images and video. A collage of images from each video file and the opportunity to see every video in six different streams significantly accelerates the process. NetClean Analyze is installed in our local police districts and is updated on a weekly basis through our National Hash Database. NetClean Analyze is an essential tool in the toolbox of anyone investigating image and video files, says Lars Underbjerg, Detective Inspector, National IT Crime Investigation Unit (NITEC), Danish National Police.

The latest release of NetClean Analyze is equipped with powerful tools to handle the needs that have arisen through the strong trend of increasing video content confiscated by law enforcement. The alternative playback methods have decreased the amount of time a reviewer requires per file. The amount of simultaneous information presented to the user is also reduced and focus is placed on the information considered most relevant.

- In this day and age, filming an entire hour of HD video is a simple and inexpensive process. The film can then be spread across the globe just by pressing a button. This places higher demands on both investigation tools and on reviewers. NetClean is proud to be able to help the police in their important efforts to combat child sexual abuse crimes. The more successful they are, the more children are saved from beginning or continuing to be subjected to sexual abuse, says Christian Sjöberg, CEO of NetClean.
