op5 Monitor 4.0 released

op5 launches op5 Monitor 4.0, a new version of the network monitoring solution op5 Monitor. The new version offers greatly increased performance resulting in a faster monitoring system.

• Today's organizations face an increasing dilemma of larger and more complex IT environments with a rapidly growing number of services and applications, such as ERP systems, e-mail and internet. These services in turn consist of an even larger amount of IT-systems. To ensure availability to services and applications in an increasingly complex environment requires a proactive approach to operations through a continuously on-going monitoring and reporting of systems' status and performance, says Jan Josephson, responsible for business development at op5.

Nagios 3.0

The op5 Monitor 4.0 solution delivers a vast increase in performance by leveraging Nagios 3.0, the new version of Open Source project Nagios. Enhanced performance was a main priority in developing Nagios 3.0. Today, there are currently a number of organizations using dated versions of Nagios that are looking to update to a later version or implement op5's monitoring products.

• Organizations that choose to upgrade to op5 Monitor 4.0 can take advantage of Nagio's high performance. Users benefit from enhanced ease-of-use and a user friendly interface. It enables more people to use the solution and easily compile reports on IT systems performance and match results against Service Level Agreements, concludes Jan Josephson.

Smart scheduling

For many IT operations, administering the schedules for who monitor what system and when, is cumbersome. With op5 Monitor, the scheduling process is simplified by enabling users to define time periods when co-workers should be notified about potential incidents for specific systems. In op5 Monitor 4.0, new functionality to fine tune time periods is available:

• Exception - Enables users to define exceptions in a given time period, for example birth days, public holidays, vacations or other important events
• Exclude - Enables for users to exclude time from a given time period, for example time that a person does not work, and that way building advanced time periods in a simple way.
