Grupo Intercom Invests in Operator One

Barcelona Based Venture capital firm Grupo Intercom is investing 500 000 euro in the international telecom service provider Operator One. The proceeds will be used to expand Operator One’s activity and services in the Spanish and Latin American markets.

Grupo Intercom is a venture capital firm investing in innovative and fast-growing internet based companies. They fully or partly own over 50 internet companies such as Softonic.com, Emagister.com and InfoJobs.net and produce more than 600 million pageviews per month, mostly in the Spanish and Latin American markets.

Headquartered in Luxembourg, Operator One is an international telecom operator making it possible to make international mobile phone calls at local rates. No phone card, computer or software is needed, nor the change of phone, operator or subscription. The service is available in 39 countries and the rates are up to 98% lower than normal operator’s rates on international mobile phone calls. Launched in 2008, the service is now available through online access and on Iphone and Android applications since Q4 2010.

Grupo Intercom is now investing 500 000 euro in Operator One at a 10% ownership of the company. The deal is based on media and commercial campaigns to be published on Grupo Intercom’s site network.
