The tenth edition of OPENART opens at Järntorget and across central Örebro

Örebro’s city centre transforms into an art landscape as OPENART, the city’s recurring art biennial, opens on Saturday, 13 June. Throughout the summer, streets and squares will be filled with contemporary art, performances and events, inviting both residents and visitors to experience the city in new ways.

About OpenArt

OPENART is Örebro’s recurring art biennial, where contemporary art from across the globe comes together in the city centre and can be experienced without an entrance ticket.

OPENART 2026 explore a time filled with questions, uncertainty and change. Here, art becomes a place to begin searching for new ways of thinking about how we care for ourselves, each other, and our shared future. The artworks are created through collaboration and invite your participation, offering moments that can surprise, puzzle, and playfully defy expectations. OPENART 2026 reminds us that participation is the foundation of democracy, through open processes, shared knowledge, and cooperation. The exhibition does not hold all the answers; instead, it is an ongoing conversation where your perspective and your questions belong.

The exhibition spans a wide range of artistic expressions, from sculpture and installations to photography and interactive works. The artworks will be placed in public spaces throughout Örebro’s city centre.

OpenArt is not only an art exhibition but a celebration for the entire city, aiming to make art accessible to everyone and to promote a vibrant cultural dialogue. Visiting OpenArt is free of charge. All events during the opening day are also free and open to the public. The opening of OpenArt 2026 is produced in collaboration with City Örebro.
