421 EMPLOYEES TO BE RECRUITED BY END OF 2015
Several layoffs have been announced by Swedish Industrial companies during the last couple of weeks. But a recent survey conducted by The Paper Province show that the swedish pulp and paper industry will need to hire a considerable chunk of new personnel by 2015.
– Even though lots of companies are having a hard time right now, this survey shows that our member companies have a strong belief in the future, says Maria Hollander, CEO of the Paper Province.
48 companies responded to the survey, which maps the need for new personnel, as well as education level and age distribution within the pulp and paper industry in The Paper Province, located in mid Sweden. The responding companies estimate that they need to hire 421 people by the end of 2015. Most of all the industry needs engineers, followed by technichians, constructors and mechanics.
The responding companies expect to hire 220 people during 2012, which is 6 less than the same companies hired last year. The survey also shows that the share of employees with a degree from collage or university has increased considerably during the last seven years. Now, 19 percent of all employees has a degree from collage or university. In 2005 that number was 12 percent.
FACTS ABOUT THE SURVEY
The survey was conducted from April to September 2012. We asked our 90 member companies how many people they needed to recruit right now, and how many they expect to recruit by the end of 2015. We also asked what level of education their employees have and what their age distribution is. 48 companies replied to the study. Together they employ 4558 people, which is approximately half of the regional work force within the pulp and paper industry. All the above numbers are based on self evaluation by the responding member companies.
