Oscar Jacobson recruits Chief Brand Officer from top New York agency

Oscar Jacobson, which has posted strong growth and a healthy profit trend over the past few years, has now taken another step towards reinforcing its position as the Nordic region’s leading menswear label. Gustaf Törling, who has extensive experience of the fashion industry, having worked with several leading fashion and luxury brands, has been appointed as Oscar Jacobson’s Chief Brand Officer. Gustaf joins from the New York advertising agency, Laird & Partners, where he held the positions of Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director.

Gustaf’s role will be to coordinate and unify overall brand issues, with responsibility for packaging and communicating Oscar Jacobson’s DNA in all channels. Gustaf is, fundamentally, an Art Director, but he has also been employed in similar roles in such industry leaders as the Estee Lauder corporate group. During the course of his career, he has worked with many strong brands, including Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo, Swarovski, Donna Karan, Gucci, Jil Sander and Tom Ford, and the experience he consequently brings will be a huge asset for Oscar Jacobson. Gustaf, who takes up his new position on 15 March 2018, will assume overall responsibility for marketing and PR activities in all markets.

In 2009, Oscar Jacobson began working to recapture its position as the Nordic region’s leading menswear label, since when the company, which has 115 years of experience in ready-to-wear clothing and menswear, has progressed in a number of important areas. These include a successful programme of repositioning and revitalisation that has resulted in more stylish, more personal collections, and a modern, new store concept that has been fully rolled out in full.

Oscar Jacobson AB is owned by Investmentbolaget Valedo Partners Fund 1 AB, together with the company’s key personnel and Board of Directors. In 2017, the company posted net sales of ca. SEK 300 million and an operating profit before depreciation of ca. SEK 35 million. In 2017, Oscar Jacobson opened three new stores in the Nordic region, and appointed David Thunmarker as the new President & CEO of Oscar Jacobson AB.
