Project Playground's Auction Event

Friday the 20th January will forever be an inscriptive date in our history. Thanks to numerous people, corporates and organisations like Nelly.com, Manchester City, AC Milan, Select Collection and Lotus Renault GP to just name a few, we gathered just over 100 guests and raised close to R700.000 in Project Playground’s first ever auction.

As the snow fell outside the large windows of Grand Hotel in Borås, we enjoyed the angel like voice of Loreen who so generously performed for us. Auctioneer for the evening was Peder Lamm, a veteran on events like this. We also had a very special guest, Smangele, one of the kids from our centre i Langa. We flew her over to Sweden specially for this event and to visit some school classes.

The amazing feeling that hit us as the evening unfolded was that of extreme gratitude. Everyone in that large, beautifully decorated room, were there for Project Playground. Everyone had defied the icy roads and excruciating cold just to be there to contribute with what they could to people they have never met, people and children that do not share their nationality, that do not even live on their continent… It was such an intense humble emotion that came over us, and we can never thank you enough.

We believe so strong in our cause, thank you for understanding our calling and for understanding that not everywhere is childhood axiomatic, thank you for understanding and supporting the crucial need to ensure a sense of identity, self-esteem and belief.
It gave us a huge amount of confident that we can repeat this event, it confirmed the fact that the work we do is of importance, and most of all, it gave us hope that good will prevail, that when people come together, miracles do happen.
