COVID-19: ICESCO GIVES GRANT TO PROJECT SOAR FOR VULNERABLE TEEN GIRL EXAM SUPPORT IN MOROCCO

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) is supporting the short-term project, Exam-Support Access for Girls (E-SAG), benefitting 400+ vulnerable teen girls across 40 locations in Morocco, in partnership with Moroccan association, Project Soar.

The international health crisis has affected Moroccan students with schools closed nationwide. In solidarity with the Moroccan Government, ICESCO has provided financial and technical support to the Moroccan association, Project Soar, to help hundreds of Project Soar girls across the country who live under the poverty line to access the internet and supplemental online educational materials in preparation for the upcoming High School entry exam and Baccalaureat exams.

“At ICESCO we believe that there are few things as vital as all forms of education at all levels in various contexts. Investing in the educational support of vulnerable teen girls is an investment that will pay off every day for the next 40 to 50 years……”
-Dr. Salim Mohamed AlMalik, ICESCO General Director

With ICESCO support, we look forward to reinforcing our educational track record for Moroccan teen girls. On average, 90% of Project Soar Girls pass the High School Entry exam, 95% pass the Baccalaureate Exam and 94.5% go on to higher education. Thank you ICESCO!"
-Maryam Montague, Project Soar Executive Director,.
