Sail Racing Palma Vela a truly international flavour for the 2017 Edition.

The Real Club Náutico de Palma will host the first big sailing event of the Mediterranean season from 3-7 May, with 141 teams from 19 different nationalities registered. The new title partner Sail Racing - a premium clothing brand with a focus on advanced racing gear for sailing athletes, launches the Official merchandise collection in conjunction with the start of the regatta.

Sail Racing PalmaVela, the renowned multi class event which traditionally kicks off the calendar of big regattas in the Mediterranean, is scheduled to start on Thursday, May 4th, at midday on the famous Bay of Palma, widely considered one of the best racing arenas in the world.

Now that the official pre-registration period is closed there are 141 teams from 19 different nations entered, a step up from the 116 entries of 2016 and which makes this one of the biggest in the history of the event.

This year’s Sail Racing PalmaVela will gather a record fleet of 12 Wallys and will be the first scoring competition on the calendar for the Wally Class 2017 international circuit.

Since the event began in 2004, Mallorca has hosted the event 11 times, and this year sets a new record for participants, with 12 Wallys from seven different nationalities, and boats ranging from 78 to 107 feet in length (24 to 32.6 metres).
