New Head of sanofi-aventis Human Resources Department

Dr. Heinz-Werner Meier appointed Senior Vice President, Human Resources to succeed Jean-Claude Armbruster Paris, September 11, 2006 – As from October 1, 2006, Dr. Heinz-Werner MEIER is appointed Senior Vice President, Human Resources of sanofi-aventis. He succeeds Jean-Claude ARMBRUSTER who is appointed Senior Vice President, Advisor to the Chairman for Employee Relations. Heinz-Werner Meier will maintain his responsibility as Senior Vice President, Pharmaceutical Operations Germany, and Chairman of the Management Board of Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH. Heinz-Werner Meier, mathematician, age 54, joined the Hoechst AG in 1985 as Head of Finance and Controlling. Following were positions as Chairman of the Management Board of Hoechst Marion Roussel Deutschland GmbH as well as Aventis Pharma Deutschland GmbH. As from May 2003, Heinz-Werner Meier was Member of the Management Board of Aventis S.A. and as such responsible for Human Resources worldwide. Since 2004 Dr. Meier is Member of the Comité de Direction of sanofi-aventis SA in Paris and Chairman of the Management Board of Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH.
